FREE Count Your Blessings Coloring Page

As a happy little summer to you, I’m sharing a printable “count your blessings” coloring page, FREE to download below! Counting blessings was on my mind this week. I can be such a task-driven person, that I forget to slow down and really savor and count the blessings God has given me. My mind moves quickly from thing to thing and I can easily land on discontentment. I have often thought of “counting” blessings as listing them, but what if it means more like valuing them,...

Jesus, Friend of Sinners + Jesus Meets Zacchaeus Luke 19:5 Coloring Page

Image: Zacchaeus in the Sycamore Awaiting the Passage of Jesus by James Tissot from the Brooklyn Museum. James Tissot painted a whole collection of painting on the life of Jesus that you can explore HERE. I have been meditating on the theme of “Jesus, friend of sinners” that I see as I read through the book of Luke. Here are two passages I find really interesting. Would you consider them with me? “Jesus went on to say, “To what,...

Printable Graduation Gift Print: Proverbs 3:5-6

My girls are turning 13 and 15 this month, and I have been reflecting on how much they’ve grown. They’ve both made comments to me recently that encouraged me and made me realize how they’re growing in wisdom. We have all the normal struggles, of course, but I am so proud of the women they’re becoming. One of you dear readers suggested a graduation printable a while ago and here it is! I love these few verses, but really...

Identifying Jesus’ Disciples, Doing Good in our Neighborhoods + a John 13:35 Printable Coloring Page

Last week on the blog, I shared about a local organization I volunteered with called Bridge of Hope that addresses homelessness. I was so encouraged to think about the good that people are doing in the name of Jesus. I know that many of you are involved in all sorts of creative and helpful things in your own neighborhoods, so I’m starting a new reader spotlight series! Here’s what I’d love from you. If you’re involved in a project...

Introducing two new Bible printable sets + a free sample coloring page

My business has changed a lot over the last 10 years! I started off making cute animal prints for nursery decor on Etsy. In 2015, I started writing this blog and created my first Bible verse printable. I was looking for Bible coloring pages to do with my kids, and I couldn’t find what I was looking for. That led to creating my printable Bible verse cards and coloring pages. In 2018, I started exploring watercolor, and that led...

Welcome to the blog!

let’s talk about . . .

SEARCH THE BLOG

If you look up artwork or movies featuring Mary Ma If you look up artwork or movies featuring Mary Magdalene, you’ll often find her depicted as a penitent woman or as sexualized, with her clothes literally falling off her body. It was Pope Gregory the Great who proposed that Mary Magdalene’s seven demons represented the seven deadly sins and that she was both a prostitute and the penitent sinner who anoints Jesus in Luke 7:36-50 (Jennifer Powell McNutt).

Later church historians assumed that Mary Magdalene’s great sins were to blame for her demon possession (McNutt). While the Western Church came to see Mary Magdalene as a prostitute and a great sinner, the Eastern Orthodox church honored her as the leader of the “myrrh-bearing women” (Taylor and Bond).

🌸 Part 1 of the Mary Magdalene study is up on Substack. Have you ever heard that she was a prostitute? Where did that come from? Is it Biblical? I was fascinated by how her story has been told through history, the origins of her name, what it means that she had been possessed by seven demons, and her place among Jesus’ disciples.

When I started writing the Jesus Speaks to Women B When I started writing the Jesus Speaks to Women Bible studies last year, I started collecting books on New Testament women. I really didn’t know where to start at first. I wasn’t familiar with the scholarship about women in the Bible, and I hadn’t even heard of any female theologians doing this work!

So you don’t have to start from scratch if you’re like I was, I’m going to share a list of books I’ve learned from in the last year. Some are more academic than others, but all have been helpful.
