“I am confident of this”: Psalm 27:13 Phone Screensaver

I don’t know what you’re going through. I don’t know what hopes have been dashed in your heart. I don’t know how desperate and confused you may feel. I don’t know how thin is the hope you’re clinging to or how obscured your view of God has become.

Maybe you have forgotten what it feels like to experience peace. Maybe the tide always seems too high.

And I’m so sorry.

But I am confident of a few things for you:

God is for you. You are never alone and defenseless in your battles.

God delights in the person that you are.

The truest thing about you is that YOU ARE HIS BELOVED. You don’t have to prove your worth to God.

There is nothing that God has not poured out for you. You are worth his time, attention, and energy.

Nothing compares to God’s shining love for you.

Because of God’s grace, you are capable of changing, adjusting, and growing.

You will never come to the end of God’s wisdom and compassion for you.

You will see God’s goodness.

Maybe those are more than a few things to be confident of? Maybe these are enough to get us through today? Or at least the next few moments.

It’s been a very long time since I made a screensaver to share with you. I have been watercoloring some designs that I’d love to turn into stickers or greeting cards one day, and I loved this one combined with the declaration of Psalm 27:13. You can click on the image below to save it to your phone.

Also, did you know I have a whole collection of screensavers you can download? You can find them all HERE.

As a person who has struggled with mental illness for around a quarter century now…this is a verse I cling to. Even in times when I cannot see His goodness…I hold tight to this truth. There is hope for more than just Heaven.

Thank you for this beautiful artwork – and the encouraging reminders.

    Good Morning Marydean,
I have loved your paintings for a couple of years. I would love to use your screensavers on my phone, but don’t know how. It says “click on the image” and it gives me a bunch of options but I dont know how to do it (transfer it from my computer to my phone to use as a screensaver)

Thank you! On a computer, you should be able to right click and then save the image or download. Then you can attach to an email to yourself, open up email on your phone, and then download there. Then just set as your background in your phone settings! Hope that works for you! –Mary

Welcome to the blog!

I’m Mary and I’m glad you’re here! Since 2014, I’ve been sharing encouraging words, fun Bible printables, and accessible art activities.

let’s talk about . . .

If you look up artwork or movies featuring Mary Ma If you look up artwork or movies featuring Mary Magdalene, you’ll often find her depicted as a penitent woman or as sexualized, with her clothes literally falling off her body. It was Pope Gregory the Great who proposed that Mary Magdalene’s seven demons represented the seven deadly sins and that she was both a prostitute and the penitent sinner who anoints Jesus in Luke 7:36-50 (Jennifer Powell McNutt).

Later church historians assumed that Mary Magdalene’s great sins were to blame for her demon possession (McNutt). While the Western Church came to see Mary Magdalene as a prostitute and a great sinner, the Eastern Orthodox church honored her as the leader of the “myrrh-bearing women” (Taylor and Bond).

🌸 Part 1 of the Mary Magdalene study is up on Substack. Have you ever heard that she was a prostitute? Where did that come from? Is it Biblical? I was fascinated by how her story has been told through history, the origins of her name, what it means that she had been possessed by seven demons, and her place among Jesus’ disciples.

When I started writing the Jesus Speaks to Women B When I started writing the Jesus Speaks to Women Bible studies last year, I started collecting books on New Testament women. I really didn’t know where to start at first. I wasn’t familiar with the scholarship about women in the Bible, and I hadn’t even heard of any female theologians doing this work!

So you don’t have to start from scratch if you’re like I was, I’m going to share a list of books I’ve learned from in the last year. Some are more academic than others, but all have been helpful.
